Guys, I need help. Is there any easy way to make the sleeves smaller? I haaaaaaaaaaaate how huge the puffed sleeves are, but I don’t have the time to cut new, smaller sleeves. If anyone has any ideas, I’d be so grateful! (Don’t mind the skirt hem, it’s not done yet. :P) Advertisements
Well the first day of project “Sewing my graduation dress” is over. I cut what felt like a million pattern pieces (these long ribbons were tedious as hell) and overlocked the skirt pieces. Tomorrow I need to cut and iron on the interfacing and then the real sewing begins! I’m really excited. I had had… Read More At some point, this mess is going to be assembled into a dress (hopefully) + Designin’ December!
Good news! I’ve been invited to present my master thesis at my graduation ceremony in December. I feel proud and honoured, obviously, but also extremely freaked out and intimidated by this development … of course that means I need a suitable dress! For my BA graduation ceremony, I ended up buying a dress to wear… Read More WIP: Lena Hoschek graduation ceremony dress
What is the worst thing ever, you ask? Obviously, it’s when I discovered that I had run out of yarn for my sweater! I went to the Wolle Rödel in Ulm at once, but they didn’t have the right colourway there. Two days later, I asked at their branch in Heidelberg, but they didn’t have it either… Read More Weekend Update: The Worst. Thing. Ever!
I mean, yes, I’ve knitted two hats lately. They were already an attempt to get out of the knitting funk, however! You see, after my poll a couple of weeks ago I decided to knit the Storm cardigan by Kim Hargreaves. I bought the Polar yarn I mentioned in said post, although I purchased it… Read More How do I get out of my knitting funk?
It’s been a while since I updated on the progress of my sock yarn blanket! This is a project I started way in 2012 and have been adding to faithfully everytime I had some leftovers from knitting a pair of socks. It’s a great way to tackle that leftover stash! (Has yours assumed vast proportions… Read More Neutrals for my Sock Yarn Blanket
As we have seen last time, I had bought gorgeous, buttery soft fabric, so now I was ready to cut into it. When I first mentioned the cosplay idea on here, Meike of Schnitterling suggested to use the Cambie pattern as a template for the Pocahontas dress. This really was a great idea! I had bought… Read More Pocahontas Cosplay – Sewing Part I
I gotta be honest here, I do not like spending time at the local fabric store. Let me explain: It’s not because I don’t enjoy browsing for fabric. I could’ve spent hours in Eurokangas for example. I just don’t like spending time at this particular fabric store, because it’s warm and stuffy there, and I… Read More Pocahontas Cosplay: The Search for Fabric
My friend Neko is coming to visit me in May so that we can go to a local anime convention together. We’ve been going swimming once a week over the semester break and got to talking that we should do some kind of partner cosplay. It was kind of obvious that it’d have to be a… Read More At least we can paint with the colours of the wind
I’m afraid I haven’t made much progress on my To Wear With A Summer Suit jumper after blogging about it last week. Problem is, I didn’t get gauge even though I’m knitting this on smaller needles; this wasn’t such a big deal for the back piece, I just had to shorten the row count of… Read More WIP Wednesday: Not That Much Progress
